Donated Easement Grants Aim to Accelerate the Pace of Conservation

Red-Pines_Bear-BrookThe Jessie B. Cox Trust recently made two $100,000 grants as part of its Donated Land and Easement Program. The Trust awarded the grants to the Merrimack Conservation Partnership in Southeastern New Hampshire/Northeastern Massachusetts and the Litchfield Hills Greenprint Collaborative in Northwestern Connecticut. Funding will cover transaction costs associated with the donation of conservation easements and fee simple lands of ecological significance. Both regional conservation partnerships will set up competitive grant programs that support member projects. Each RCP hopes to protect 2,000 acres in the first phase of the project.

November 1 is the next deadline for concept applications for the 2016 round of funding for the Donated Land and Easement Grant Program.
